This here is a trifecta of total awesome. Builder and illustrator polywen has assembled a side by side by side of his reproductions of classic issue #27 of Detective Comics, the premier of Batman. In the middle is his inspiration, the original cover from 1939. On the right is his excellent LEGO minifig illustration. And on the left is his mind-blowing MOC for the Comic Bricks art show for DesignerCon 2014.
Scale lighting is a crucial component for a properly displayed and lit large model. Especially an interior and even more so when it's cinematically inspired. This Batcave by Brent Waller is a fantastic example of scale lighting, with super dramatic results. Notice how a sense of depth and scale is accomplished by using numerous small sources of light and how there's a good balance of darkness in the image ( Batman would approve). Sometime what you don't light is just as important as what you do.
Batman turns 75 this year, and there is batmania everywhere. Builder polywen decided to celebrate with a large scale articulated figure, and it's amazing. Standing over 21" tall, he's nearly as intimidating as the real super hero (he is real, isn't he?). He's also 100% LEGO, even the cape is cut from a LEGO Club t-shirt, so we'll call it legit.
It's one of the coolest super hero vehicles ever, and now it's an amazing LEGO model. It's the Batman Tumbler, and tomorrow I'm building it live starting at 2pm PST.

Builder tkh / ieyasu has added to this already impressive group of super heroes with the addition of Batman and Green Lantern. I'd say now they're ready to take on just about any challenge. I like how the basic structure is the same on these figs but each is totally unique, and awesome.

The dark figure stops pacing as his senses tingle, ready for action, he clears his throat,

Yes, I heard there's a situation there. I'm here to help.
Voice (O.S.)
Umm, I'm not sure what you mean.
Batman
(after an awkward beat)
I need a pizza.
Voice (O.S.)
Yes sir, what would you like on it?
Batman
Do you have any...dark ingredients?
Voice (O.S.)
Ummm, olives are pretty dark I guess.
Batman
Perfect. And I need it delivered under cover of night.
Voice (O.S.)
Well, it's 9:30 at night, so... yeah
I love the retro feel of this relief mosaic by Burriedbybricks. It's hard to believe that Batman is 75 years old, he doesn't look a day over 35. But you can get a bit of a hint of his age from his raspy voice.
I really like this version of Batman from MortalSwordsman. The contouring, color selection and pose-ability are really impressive, with simple broad-stroke shapes and just enough detail to sell it. The bat shaped base completes it, but the head is my favorite part.
One of the best characters in The LEGO Movie was Batman in my humble opinion. And of course he had to have the best transportation. The highly accurate version of the Batwing from Brickmasta looks awesome, and really needs to be an official set (in fact, I'm really surprised it isn't). Nicely done.
KAPOW! Check out this awesome Batmobile Cuusoo project of the classic 60's Batman. I can't decide what I love the most about this, that it's classic Adam West campiness, the design itself or the fact that it all started with a dad building a Batmobile for his daughter so Robin could ride along too. Regardless I want one, and if you want one too let's all support this project and make it a reality!
If you've paid any attention to the news or social media, you know that San Francisco was transformed into Gotham City today to make a special little boy's dream come true: to be Batman for a day. Riddler may have tried to steal some money, but Miles, you stole our heart. You're my hero.
*whonk* (sound of jaw hitting counter top). This is a seriously cool hot rod inspired by Batman villain The Riddler. Once again _Tiler delivers top-notch building and excellent photography, this is gorgeous.
Ah, the good old climbing the wall gag, classic campy Batman. It's amazing what you can accomplish with simple camera tricks like turning it on it's side. And this is exactly how this cheesy effect was accomplished. Nice photography InkBlotPhoto.
This is epic. Xenomurphy has built an amazing version of everyone's favorite (and easiest to escape) prison for the criminally insane, Arkham Asylum. And as if this MOC wasn't amazing on it's own, there's an entire 82 page book of the making of it in his photostream, and it's free. Go there, now.
CustomBRICKS is back again (it's only been a day!) with another remarkable brick-built caricature. There is just something so appealing about a minimalistic approach. The plan is mount this (and others) in shallow shadow boxes, and I think it's brilliant. I wouldn't mind one of these hanging on my wall.
You can always count on Monster Brick to give you a unique take on something, like his Technic Batcycle. It's like OCC and Bruce Wayne got together to build something so radical the bad guys would just wet their pants when he came around a corner on it.
